Abe Plots course for growth with no cuts

  1. The draft plan, which is expected to be approved by Japan’s cabinet next week, show Shinzo Abe, prime minister, is betting on higher growth rather than fiscal measures to tackle the world’s largest public debt of 246 percent of GDP
  2. There are also several additional to Mr Abe’s so-called third arrow. The biggest is a revamp of Japan’s universities aimed at making them more globally competitive. The strategy also spells out where Japan is willing to allow higher immigration.
  3. A more relaxed visa policy has resulted in a boom in visitors from China this year, and Japan hopes to deelop tourism as one of its main growh industries
